Christina Aguilera, current coach on NBC’s The Voice, confirmed recently on Jay Leno that she is recording her fifth studio album. She explains in an interview with USA Today, “for this one, I really want to make a real rooted, heartfelt record. After someone goes through the things that I have, regarding a divorce, there’s a lot of emotions that are stirred. … I love to sing. It’s what moves me and inspires me. To be able to do that is a gift.”
Aguilera goes on to say, “the last year has probably, with the divorce and considering everything that’s gone on, has humbled me a little bit.,” she says with a laugh in a recent interview. “It’s a new beginning for me. I’ve been through some hard things, but I’m on the up and up.”
As for possible contributors, Christina has her sights set on previous collaborators Sia and DJ Premier; in addition to Sandy Vee, producer of Rihanna’s ‘S&M;’ & Katy Perry’s ‘Firework,’ as well as her fellow Voice coach, Cee-Lo Green. “Cee Lo and I have been trying to work together for a really long time so hopefully something will work out,” she told reporters in another interview. DJ Premier, a Back to Basics collaborator, recently confirmed she is indeed starting to record and that they will be working together again.
